There's a new player in the east coast art circuit neatly situated between NYC and Philly, the art capital of these United States and one of the great 'scene-cities' of our time, respectively. I can't wait to get back to my home state of New Jersey and check out the fresh offerings at the recently conceived NJMoCA, temporarily housed in the Asbury Park Convention Hall.  Read all about the opening reception of the inaugural exhibition in the Scene & Heard section of the Artforum website.

I have long thought about how how art works wriggle their way into the vernacular of art history. Though this article doesn't address that directly it does pose an intriguing look at one methodology. Even more interesting is this idea of a specific art history existing beyond the confines of academia.

I love to follow the art party circuit on artinfo.com. This art party featuring "hipsters" and young socialites is soaked in superficiality. This article seeks to distill down to a single sentence that which defines "hipster." I think the author takes a nice stab at it but misses the mark slightly.
